She's a brave girl that never cry at all with the many injections and the scary hospital stay. Her fingers tips are all marked with many blood spots/holes. All indicating the no. of times a needle went through her finger tips. When the nurse inject insulin at her abdonmen , she move her head up & back in pain, her face cringed together, but she din cried. Not once. But when the supervisor came in to tell her this, => the 3 fears.
1) Her feet. Any injuries/bruises and blisters can lead to amputation of her toes if left unnoticed and untreated.
2) Her eyes. Possible blurry vision and blindness if not taken care of.
3) Her kidney. TOo much salt or carbohydrates might weaken the kidney functionality .
She teared. She just lie down there crying silently. She will not tell us how she is feeling & why she teared.
Her condition is not stable yet i guess. She lost her apeitate and is she is still on drips. Her hair itch cos of the sweat on her scalp and back, and cos she haven bathe for a long time. She ans timidly that she cannot drink millo ba? when ask if she wanted milo by the nurse( she can drink milo but w/o sugar). All things taken for granted by us all along, becomes not so direct or possible for her.
As i read up on the net, many things becomes clearer and i am more confident of taking care of her after reading what she can eat and possible excerise. However, there's a lot of limitation. I wanted to bring her roller brading after she is well, but was reminded by yen that there is highly possible that she will injuries herself. Then i read that swimming is the best excerise. But i realise u need light rubber shoes with non skid side too, cause to prevent cuts on the feets. .. .. .
i think Yu is really loved by a lot of people. And i hope she knows that we will be supporting of her. COs diabetic patient often fell to low esteem. And cos of her young age and human nature, she is most certainty asking herself,"why me?" I can't help but feel touched by the concern of everybody. Relatives came down to visit and kept her company. Thoughtful gestures like dvd player, flowers and sketch book really goes a mile in cheering her up.
Of ocurse, friends has gave me many encouragments and make me braver and not as helpless. I was constantly reminded about the kindness of these great people i meet at the different stages of my life. THAnks, if i need a listening ear i know i can count on u all. Cos i experience first hand the great power of friends' support and encouragement, i firmly believe what friends can do for Yu too. Been encouraging my little cousins to talk to Yu more and cheer her up, cos i think a human touch and laughters are as important as any medicines and diet. =)
Tml i will be cooking something for her. The last time i cooked something was in Home Economics. bought carrots, tofu, chicken brest, corn, macaroni, tomatoes & crab meats. Seriously i have no idea how to cook anything with all these indegredients. I just bought those healthy vegetables and hopefully make a tastely & healthy food out of it. Anyway i am not sure if she can eat the food i make, so have to write down all the ingredients and check with the nurse tml. Hopefully she will eat more tml.
